Eater Boston: Pre-Cannoli Beer and Burgers
Modern Pastry Adds an Underground Lair for Pre-Cannoli Beer and Burgers
Modern Pastry had the genius idea to open a bar underneath its North End location, because what goes together better than beer and burgers followed (or even preceded) by one of Boston’s longtime top cannoli contenders? Modern Underground is now open, reports Boston Restaurant Talk, citing a tweet from @ConciergeBoston that mentions beer, burgers, and appetizers — and of course, sports on television.
An employee at Modern tells Eater that the bar is open Thursday through Saturday, 4 p.m. to midnight, as well as 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, so you’ll have to wait a few days before heading over. In addition to the aforementioned beer, there are also wines and mixed drinks. The food menu is small but hits on some bar classics, including nachos, Buffalo wings, sliders, and steak tips, plus pulled pork egg rolls.
Modern Pastry also has a location (but no bar) in Medford.
Update: Modern Pastry has posted the full Modern Underground menu on Facebook, also noting that the bar seats 40 and features multiple televisions.
